17/100 - Right. Where from here?

So now I need to think about future direction - reflect on what I've achieved, what I've not achieved, and where I want to go from here.

This year I've completed several events, but the stand out ones are the Glasgow Women's 10k, the Moonwalk marathon, and the Glasgow Half Marathon. Hmmm, my running appears to be more memorable when I'm in the West, lol... Maybe I should only run races in Glasgow from now on?? :)

What do I want to achieve? Well, I'm not sure. So until I know that, I can't see what lessons are most appropriate from the above events, and the training I've done throughout the year. So I need to make some decisions.

Charlie Spedding says, in his excellent book "From Last To First", you need to ask yourself three questions - "what do I want, why do I want it, and how much do I want it?" - answering those questions will help you identify what you need to do to get the results you want. How much do I want it - it's the key question, because really I'm going to need to make sure my goals are something I'm sufficiently motivated to go after. THAT makes the difference, when you wake up with the 5am alarm clock in the depths of winter, when it's dark and cold and it feels like the rest of the world is still asleep.

So I am going to spend a week or so REALLY thinking about those three questions. Spedding writes that HIS epiphany came while he thought about those questions over a pint of beer while waiting for a late train one day... I wonder if a glass of wine will help? *laughs*
