63/100

I'm a bit proud of myself today - stressful day at work, and really busy, and despite craving chocolate like crazy all afternoon, I held back from going to the vending machine or office canteen. My lunch was one I prepared this morning, and I had that, and a few grapes in the morning as a snack, then just stuck to mugs of tea in the afternoon, around the meetings. After the work day was finally over, I needed to pop to the shop for milk on the way home, so I went to the nearest which is the M&S foodhall, full of deliciousness. I managed to walk past all of the "treats" I would normally get on days when I'm feeling the most overwhelmed, and I bought some veg, milk, and fresh meat - and that was it! I'm not saying I didnt look at all my favourite junk food treats, because I most certainly did, I just kept telling myself to be strong and the only reason I wanted them was because I was feeling anxious and over-tired. I got home, and thinking I was too tired to actually cook a meal, I once again could have made some poor decisions, but instead I pulled a bag of mixed salad leaves out of the fridge, piled a dish high with them, drizzled a little extra virgin olive oil over the top, then threw on two handfuls of baby cherry tomatoes, some very hastily cubed cucumber, and a whole pack of cooked king prawns. Added salt and pepper, and made a cuppa (the kettle took longer to boil than the whole meal took to prep!), before gratefully sinking down onto the couch. I'll be honest, it took me quite a while to eat the plateful of salad and prawns, and I actually left some because I realised at one point about two thirds through that I was now just eating for the sake of eating - another thing I'm pleased I did, because it's not my usual behaviour. So, in general, I'm pretty damn proud of my thought processes around food today. I'm going to get an early night tonight - I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night, and I know I function better on around 7 hours, so I'll try to get a little more to balance out. :-) Two gym sessions tomorrow, hence none today, and I'm actually looking forward to it. Looking forward to my comfy bed a bit more, though.... x

  1. Coming through days like this with flying colours is something to be genuinely PROUD of, well done.

Shh.... liking a comfy bed for a good nights sleep might be more as important than the gym sessions for health. It seems a bit paradoxical that lying in bed sleeping is essential for health and fitness when everyone obsesses over diet and fitness training.

In my book good sleep--> healing --> health --> happiness, it's very much a fundamental component of healthy lifestyle, loose sleep too often and everything starts to unravel.

    1. Thanks Robert! I'm determined that good sleep is going to play a huge role in my weightloss this year! There's just too much research out there on the links between poor sleep and obesity to ignore. :-)
