Well, decision made: I ran the Great Winter Run - not terribly well, but honestly, I'm dead happy that I just went out there are did it, since it was a hilly 5km run in gale force winds at points, blizzard conditions at other points, and even hailstones at another. Toughest conditions I've ever raced in, but I did it. I will do a proper run report in the next few days.
There were chocolate biscuits in the post-race goody bag, and I've justified eating a couple today - I'm making sure to record them properly in the food diary, though, so there's no problem really. I just find it telling that as soon as chocolate is there in front of my face, I go to pieces, lol. In general, though, my food intake is going really well - I'm making sure these small treats continue to happen, but get counted and recorded, so I don't go overboard. This way, the lifestyle should be maintainable. I've had a few serious tests of willpower already - especially around getting fish and chips on the way home after a long day at work, but I managed to hold back there, which is awesome. I know, though, that I need to have better options at home for tired-and-irritable times: some store cupboard staples, both in terms of meals, and snacking. I have some tins of Baxters "hearty" soups that are really filling, containing veg and beans etc, and under 250 kcals a tin, but I don't want to eat too many of those, because they seem a little too salty really. I've had two as easy lunchtime options at work last week, and they keep me full through the afternoon. Anyway, I need to go have a look round the shops for some other ideas of things to have in the cupboard.
I'm so tired this evening, but it's a good tired. :-) I'll tell you more about the run another time, soon. x
