This is the point where traditionally bloggers look back on their year and how it's gone - I'd really rather not. That's not to say I haven't had some great times, just in general the year has been emotionally challenging, and personally a year I've found very difficult in many ways. The positives have definitely been there, and largely thanks to the running community - I enjoyed supporting loads of friends in their races, either directly crewing for them (Amanda, Dave twice, James, and Gerry), volunteering at races or parkruns, or just turning up at events to cheer loudly. I met more fabulous people, and spent time with people I care about. It was a year I would be wrong to write off completely. I didn't give up on my running friends, although I probably gave up on myself more times than I care to admit.
There was a lot over the year I don't wish to write about - some difficult and challenging times, and I don't think I coped well. However, this is the joy of New Years: it gives you that "point", that clear fresh beginning. I can draw a line in the sand, and confidently step over it. And so I say goodbye to 2014, and tomorrow morning I'll wake up with a smile, and get ready to kick ass. Starting with a parkrun 5km, because why not start as I mean to go on?!
