2/100 - A simple Sunday

Today's exercise started out pretty poorly - I wasn't properly fuelled for a run early this morning, I didn't even manage 1 mile in the cold, bright sunshine before I gave up and went home. I decided it would be better, therefore, to eat something filling and nutritious, watch some TV and catch up on emails etc. and then head off to the gym in the early afternoon. So that's exactly what I did.

The gym session was okay - well, I'm pleased with the work, but I definitely wait around too long in between sets etc. - I'm getting better at that, but ultimately I think I'm quite a lazy person, lol.

Today's workout: (disclaimer - this is what I did today, not what I recommend others to do, etc... if you want to lift weights etc. I'd strongly advise seeing a proper trainer in a gym for a personalised programme, etc.)

1) 5 minutes cross-trainer warm-up

2) Shoulder press (machine) - 10kg, x 15, x 3 sets
3) Chest press (machine) - 20kg, x 15, x 3 sets
4) Leg extension (machine) - 30kg, x 15, x 3 sets

5) Kettlebell swings - 16kg x 20
6) Kettlebell swings - 20kg x 20
7) Kettlebell swings (single-hand) - 12kg x 30
8) Kettlebell swings - 20kg x 20
9) Kettlebell swings - 16kg x 20

10) Bicep curls - 10kg barbell, x 15
11) Front squats - 10kg barbell, x15
12) Repeat 10,11, twice (i.e. total of 3 sets)

13) Russian twists with 6kg ball, x 30
14) Plank - 45 seconds
15) Sit-ups (feet supported), x20
16) Repeat 13,14,15

Not too bad, really - I wore my heart rate monitor today, rarely do in the gym, and it got as high as 182 during the kettlebells section. So even though there's no 'cardio' in there, I definitely got my heart rate up. I didn't plan my session out beforehand - I need to get better at that. I have a few different programme plans from my old personal trainer, from various stages of my training, and I think I can use elements from them to make a great workout plan, but I tend to find I do more when I wing it. *shrugs* We'll see....

Anyway. A simple day - failed attempt at a run, TV, cleaning, laundry, and gym. :) Some weekends are like this. Hungry enough now to eat a scabby horse. I'd best get something healthy cooked asap, before the urge to order pizza overtakes me, lol. x
